July 2007.

The drilling of our first crops of Terraseed, picture left. The seed is inpregnated into a mat of paper and polythene, and instead of sowing the seed conventionally we lay the mat and water it. This ground breaking, (if you will excuse the pun), project is being developed in Hampshire.

The mat is laid with a conventional polythene layer, in wide beds, the surface has to be perfectly even.

This is about the only dry couple of days we have had, and we have laid experiments with radish, rocket, lettuce, spinach and parsley. Our crops are all organic so this is going to be a bit of challenge.

Here we can see the seed in close up, with the moisture and 2 inches of rain we have had today, seed will quickly germinate and get away.

July 29th.

Finaly the rain has stopped, and a reasonable week ahead. Spinach looks to be making good progress in the open.

Think that this is Little Gem lettuce this is also in the open with no fleece, will be interesting to see how quickly these move with some heat.
Radish, these are under the fleece, but have clearly moved quicker on the shoulder of the bed.
Radish under the fleece, looking good.
