We will normally grow four varieties of pumpkin. Principally to give a good range of size, they will be approximately half kilo 7 or 8 kilo depending on the season.

Baby Bear

Quite a small pumpkin , of typical pumpkin shape. Not easy to grow, as is slow to germinate, and late to ripen, typical size 600gms to 2kg. This is a high risk variety even in Southern England.

Mars Pumpkin Mars

This is a more spherical pumpkin, larger than Baby Bear 1kg to 3kg. Has a hard skin and quite durable. As you can see there is a good depth of flesh, so suitable for the kitchen

Racer

A top contender for early pumpkins. Racer has a very nice round shape, with deep ribs, strong handle and dark orange colour. The compact semi-bush plant takes up less space and allows for more plants in the field. This hybrid produces very attractive pumpkins in the 10-15 lb range.

Sumo

So you want a big pumpkin then. This is Sumo, too big to pick up on your own, not the best in a pie, but who cares, great fun to grow.
