April 2011

204broads

Broad beans look fantastic, the best I have ever seen them. They have come through the winter well, the picture shows about 4 drillings and ground in the distance being prepared for the final April sowing, there will be about 10 acres in all.

Cows all out to grass now, bit concerned about no rain, we will need a good soak fairly soon otherwise we are going to be short of grass come May time.

Fallow dear are a complete nightmare, just hundreds of them, not enough being shot on the Forest as they are ‘Nice to look at’, just having to fence them out as best we can but not easy. Fortunately they don’t like broad beans, but runners is another story
