Robotic cheese cutter that will cut the cheeses, very accurately
All of a sudden, the world has gone mad, with little or no warning we wake up one morning and the Middle East is in flames. The amount of ordinance being used is breath-taking. We all struggle to follow it, in today’s environment we never know what is true and what is false. That said it was disappointing to find the Navy had no ships sea ready, deeply embarrassing. Then we have tombstone Ed lecturing us all about the merits of net zero, and for those businesses that now have to cope with massive rises in fuel costs, particularly transport companies, net zero is just a joke. If fuel prices continue to rise and spiral out of control, there will be companies that won’t cope and will have been sacrificed on the altar of net zero. Moving away from North Sea oil while we have no immediate fuel replacement for heavy transport or tractors is completely stupid. Fitting a solar panel to the roof of my tractor does not work!

Robotics have now arrived in the cheese plant. Because we have a policy of supplying lots of small shops, farm shops and corner stores, we need to cut and pack hundreds of priced wedges every week. So, with the help of a grant from Wiltshire County Council, we have purchased a robotic cheese cutter. This has speeded up the job of cutting and gives us a much more uniform and consistent wedge of cheese. It is run off compressed air, has its own weighing system, and the computer can decide how big the wedges need to be. You just need to keep your fingers out of the way!!

We have recently become members of Wiltshire Marque Food Group, and taken part in a shot clip that promotes the County and its food producers. Contary to what many of you may think we are in fact just in Wiltshire and farm the most southerly tip. Watch the clip it is a lovely little production.
