May 2017

Main issue for both April and May had been lack of rain, that was until 24 hours ago. We had 4mm rain in April, and 7mm in May, until today 17th May, and we have had 23mm in 24 hours. That has sorted the job out, the broad beans are looking great, but they have had 50mm of water via irrigation in the last few weeks. Grazing for the cows has been very tight, and we have had to graze some of the silage grass to keep them going.
The Artisan Cheese Festival in Melton Mowbray was a great success, with Old Winchester, Stoney Cross and The Smoked picking up prizes, then a visit from the La Fromargarie team, you can read their report here, but you will need half an hour!

There is no Winchester Farmers Market on June 11th. It has been cancelled by WCC, but you will find some of us at Broughton Buffalo, Open Farm Sunday 11am untill 3pm.
