Bath and West hosts the British Cheese awards again, and we keep the big prizes in the south. Two Hoots Cheese are Champions with their lovely Barkham Blue, the star of any cheese board. For us there were five Medals, Gold for the Smoked, sales have doubled since last year. Silver for Stoney Cross, Silver for Old Winchester and the Export, and a Bronze for the Lyburn Gold. To wrap it up there was a Bronze for James and the Francis. Prizes also for Laverstoke with their Buffalo cheese.
Veg news, the runner beans that looked so good, below right, have been attacked by everything, particularly the pheasants, and have gone no where in 4 weeks, we need some warmer weather, broad beans look great, pumpkins all up and above ground, so is the sweetcorn.
